Big challenges require big ideas. That’s why at Greater Twin Cities United Way, we’re collaborating with the community on new ideas that drive results and create change. We call it “innovating for impact.”After 10 years as a United Way volunteer, I'm excited to lead United Way through the next phase of our transformation. We’ve rolled out a bold new vision to disrupt inequity and foster a region where all thrive, regardless of income, race or place of residence. With our community, corporate and foundation partners; volunteers; and generous donors, our mission is to build pathways toward prosperity and equity for all, with the goal of transforming our region into a great place to live for everyone.I came to United Way because we're a mission-driven organization with people at the heart of our work. In 2018, Greater Twin Cities United Way:• Touched the lives of over 500,000 people.• Engaged 60,000 volunteers in service projects valued at $15 million in community benefits.• Advocated (in partnership with coalitions) for $91 million in state funding that was invested in our community.• Provided 273,000 referrals to services through our 2-1-1 resource hotline.• Increased the average annual earnings of economic opportunity program participants by $23,000.• Bolstered 23 organizations led by and serving people of color and American Indians via our Culturally Powered Communities program.• Helped develop a healthy nonprofit sector by supporting 100+ organizations through capacity building initiatives.Philanthropy is changing and community needs are changing – and United Way is changing with them. I’m proud of the innovative work we’re doing with our partners.
