As long as I can remember I wanted to be a physician. Growing up in the early era of computers, I developed a deep interest in technology and the impact it could/does have on our lives. I focused on how the intersection of technology in medicine could positively improve the quality of patient care. Not satisfied with the options out in the marketplace, I realized that I should stop complaining about the lack of options and do something to address the problems. So, I founded Visonex and 20 years and have worked every day to improve the quality in dialysis through applied technologyI am particularly proud of---The positive impact on the care of more than 100,000 dialysis patients. As a nephrologist, in my career, I might have been able to impact 3-4,000. By providing a beside tool for the care team that provided them with better information for clinical decision making, I was more able to leverage my potential impact on patient care. ---The power and talent of the team and culture we created at Visonex. Without the team, we would have never been able to have such a meaningful industry impact. We enjoyed very little employee turnover. The focus was on responsibility and accountability while retaining flexibility and meaningful work. We saw team members routinely stepping in to aid others in times of personal or corporate needs. Our team had the autonomy, within boundaries, to make mistakes and learn from them, with the goal being personal growth and future oriented. ---The impact on other businesses, both within and beyond the industry. Visonex was involved with assisting in setting industry standards and the formation of exchanges and onramps. Through these efforts we worked with state and local government and other industry leaders and trade organizations. My personal efforts included mentoring businesses in Wisconsin and elsewhere., including working with the National Science Foundation as a mentor and as Chair of the Green Bay Packers Mentor Protege Program, mentoring business in many different types of industries.I bring medical and techhnical expertise to any medical problem-solving situation.
