Innovative and results-oriented professional with more than two decades of diverse work experience, as both an educator and an award winning journalist. My recent experience includes more than 10 years of successful instructional leadership in the classroom as a middle school Global Studies Teacher and a Kindergarten teacher. I developed and shaped the curriculum in the classroom for 7th Graders in a course that focuses on global issues that impact students and adults alike. In addition, I utilized my journalism background to develop a school wide newscast that airs on a weekly basis, which covers news, weather and sports at Clear Creek Amana Middle School. My leadership extends outside of the classroom, where I work as a Speech Coach focusing on multimedia presentations. One of my greatest assets is the ability to collaborate with my teaching and training team to create cross functional curriculum, rather than taking the didactic approach of teaching from a textbook. I am highly respected by administrators as well as parents and community leaders. Prior to my teaching career, I spent over a decade as a multimedia journalist in the competitive television news business. This fast-paced, deadline focused environment provided me the opportunity to build on my writing and presentation skills, storytelling ability, and develop my executive presence during live presentations for daily newscasts.
