About John Zelaski

I am a lifelong learner with a passion for education, medicine, and community engagement. I have nearly a decade's worth of experience in nonprofit service—especially through the scope of education. The various positions I’ve held allowed me to leverage innovative pedagogy to improve literacy in STEM.Within the last two years, I have completed programs in data analytics, leadership, and HIV prevention. My time as a lab assistant encouraged me to develop skills as an associate data analyst with the help of Google through Coursera. Recently, at the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, I completed their post-baccalaureate leadership program with a Summa Cum Laude distinction. While at CDU I was awarded the Cedar-Sinai Medical Center scholarship and served as a patient care navigator for their subsidiary Drew CARES. This role allowed me to immerse myself in the greater South Central community and educate its members about the importance of safe sex practices to prevent STIs and HIV. As a result of my experiences, I have found that nothing satisfies me more than cultivating new relationships, solving problems, and contributing to the growth of a community’s well-being through medicine.
