I’m a licensed physician in the State of Texas since 1980 specializing in anesthesiology since 1985. In addition to maintaining a busy clinical practice, I’ve served in a variety of leadership roles in organized medicine and in the Texas legislature. I served 7 terms as a state representative from District 28 and 2 terms as chair the powerful House Appropriations Committee. I was also a founding partner of US Anesthesia Partners, which is among the largest single specialty anesthesiology practices in the nation. Currently I am the Executive Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs for the University of Texas System.
