For 20+ years John has assisted business in cross-border negotiations and due diligence, marketing & distribution, PR/PA/CR, technology transfer, private & public fundraising, partnering & acquisitions. His record includes operations in the aerospace, agriculture, automotive, biotech, chemicals, construction, energy, environmental, food, glass, ICT, medical, multimedia & publishing, paper and water industries.He has worked in business and economic development in Europe, North America, the Caribbean and Latin America, including the privatization of East Germany and the facilitation of foreign investment into transition economies. He served as an advisor to the Minister of Economics of Germany and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama. John served ten years as a U.S. Army Intelligence officer (with Meritorious Service, the highest non-combat service award) during which he worked as a liaison officer with the British Military Intelligence Corps, developing strategies in terrorism counter-action and low intensity conflict. In Washington, D.C. he worked as a student intern at the White House (on the Panama Canal Treaties), a free trade lobbyist, a PBS award-winning documentary producer (on conflict in the 3rd World), and in privately-led initiatives which helped to conclude the El Salvador Peace Treaty of 1993. John has been widely published, and is currently an international economics and business book proposal reviewer for Columbia University Press. He is a frequent speaker at industry events, and has given expert testimony before the U.S. Congress (on foreign military training) and the United Nations (on conflict in Western Sahara).Degrees include an MA in international economics and Latin American Studies (Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, The Johns Hopkins University), an MBA (Edinburgh Business School), and a triple-major BA with Phi Beta Kappa (Ripon College). He currently serves on the Alumni Advisory Board of Ripon College.
