I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of all the programs and the maintenance of all buildings and vehicles. My chain of command included 300 of the organization’s 312 employees and generated over $11M of the $12M annual budget. Annually the programs served about 1,000 adults with developmental disabilities, focusing on housing services, independent living skills training, and employment services (training and actual work experiences and job placement). Contractual program funding from Regional Center, State Department of Health (Medi-Cal), and State Department of Rehabilitation (Supported Employment). I was also responsible for developing the organization’s annual plan of action used to monitor staff, board, and volunteer accomplishments.

Successfully implemented cost cutting strategies and generated new income opportunities that moved annual budget from the red into the black within one year.

I provided visionary leadership to transform small information & referral organization into what continues today to be a leading provider of vital mental health services in Orange County. Programs included advocacy, homeless outreach and day treatment, shelter interface, vocational assistance, housing placement, and self help groups, including the community’s first comprehensive program for men and women struggling with homelessness and mental illness.

Promotion from position of Senior Counselor corresponded with the program's merger with Turning Point Family Services Program, Inc. Position encompassed expanded administrative and financial responsibilities and the opportunity to implement creative planning. Secured municipal, county and federal funding for the program. Successfully initiated a collaborative computer network with Orange County shelter care providers, which was funded by Apple Computers. Initiated the Shelter Providers Network, bringing together service providers for training and coordination of bed availability and referrals

Responsible for 7 residential treatment facilities serving boys and girls ages 8 to 18. Provided clinical supervision to MSW and BSW social workers.
