Information Technology Strategist is the ITS liaison to the Library for IT Strategic Planning, Operations, and Development. This role involves partnering to formulate a strategic vision for library systems, coordinating with both library stakeholders and ITS service providers, and ensuring seamless integration of IT solutions. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining secure, cost-effective IT solutions, overseeing network capacity planning and software licensing agreements, and ensuring the quality of technical services.As an IT Strategist, the role entails participating in campus-wide IT strategy activities, advising on prioritization and sequencing of initiatives, and fostering partnerships to enhance resource delivery. Key duties also include analyzing complex IT issues, directing documentation preparation, and recommending strategic changes in IT standards for innovation and efficiency.

Provides leadership, vision and administrative oversight for a broad range of Library information technology planning, operations, infrastructure and strategic functions to meet research, instructional, and administrative goals of UCSB constituents. In critical partnership with the campus Chief Information Officer (CIO), responsible for strategic planning, project management, operations budget, vendor selection, IT policy development, technical architecture, implementation and administration of cloud and physical computing infrastructures, information security, disaster recovery/business continuity, software development, user support, and all other aspects of campus-wide and departmental information technology for the Library.Advice Library leadership, the UL, and the CIO to the appropriateness of specific technology investments to accomplish the Library’s strategic goals. Considers constraints, campus initiatives, and state of the technology market relative to strategic department and campus goals.Participate in campus-wide integrated IT strategy, planning and coordination activities. Advises UCSB’s Associate Vice Chancellor and CIO and other active members of the CIO Council regarding the assessment of campus IT priorities, sequencing of important initiatives, assessment of potential financial investments, and determination of optimal labor allocations with the Library.Directs a team responsible for design, delivery, and maintenance of the technology infrastructure in support of the Library’s mission. Represents the Library on campus and system-wide information technology planning groups and committees, including UCSB’s CIO Council

- Direct oversight for all aspects of management of Library Information Technology and Digital Initiatives.- Leadership role in providing project management oversight to coordinate the many Information Technology project timelines with campus schedules to keep disruptions at a minimum and support the delivery of instruction.- Develop strategies for carrying out the vision in accordance with the Library mission statement and strategic plan- Provides leadership in needs assessment- Supports executives in promoting organizational effectiveness- Oversight for Library Network Services, Repository Services and Technology Services- Oversees and directs capital budgeting for multiple projects within Information Technology- Assures financial integrity in all aspects of Information Technology management; Responsible for ensuring that Information Technology services are delivered in a consistent, efficient, and effective manner- Prepares and maintains operational plans and measures and reports performance against the plans- Fosters good team communication within the department and acts as a liaison to other administrative departments of the library to jointly deliver effective Information Technology services
