Employed as the Mine Production Superintendent/Alternate UG Manager at St Barbara’s King of the Hills mine. Key responsibilities include:• Accountable for managing the delivery of the short-term production plan• Managing and mentoring the production team, which includes the drill & blast, short-term mine planning, and survey functions.• Management and execution of the mine closure plan.• Providing relief coverage to the Mining manager position as required.• Developing a strong safety culture through strong personal leadership and actively promoting proactive safety behaviours.

I was employed as the Mine Technical Services Superintendent at St Barbara Ltd’s Gwalia mine site. Key responsibilities included:• Managing and mentoring the mine technical services team, which includes the mine planning, scheduling, ventilation, and geotechnical functions.• Timely and accurate production of the short, medium and annual budget plans for Gwalia mine.• Managing the production of life-of-mine plans for the Gwalia Deeps mine.• Managing effective use of available resources in support of the development and delivery of the mine plan.• Developing a strong safety culture through strong personal leadership and actively promoting proactive safety behaviours.• Act as statutory UG Manager in Underground Managers absence.

I was employed as a Principal Mining Engineer for Consolidated Minerals Limited (CML) based in the companies West Perth office. I was responsible for providing both geotechnical and strategic mine planning support to the group, which included three operating mines (two open pit mines in Australia, and an open pit mine in Ghana), as well an underground operation which was on care and maintenance.

I was employed by AMC consultants as a geotechnical engineer for approximately 8 years on a full time basis. I consulted to a wide range of mining projects in Australia and overseas, including open pit and underground operations of various scales, covering a wide range of commodities, and mining methods. My experience with AMC was extensive and varied, and included: • The design, installation and operation of portable and full scale mine based seismic systems at various Australia operations. • Conducted numerous seismic reviews including detailed analyses and interpretation of seismic data. • The design of ground support for all rock conditions.• The development of ground control (GCMP’s) and cave management plans, as well as conducting geotechnical audits and geotechnical risk assessments. • Conducted a large number of numerical modelling studies including: - Open pit slope stability assessments, - Stope and pillar stability assessment; and orebody sequence analysis - Caveability and surface subsidence assessment for sub-level and block caving operations - Extraction level and undercut stability assessment for block caving operations. • Conducted various geotechnical studies for locating capital infrastructure, such as declines, portals and ventilation shafts.• Evaluated air blast and mud rush potential in various sub-level and block cave operations.• Experience managing, conducting and reviewing a large number of mine design studies, ranging from conceptual, prefeasibility, feasibility, through to development and operational stages. • Experience in the design and review of geotechnical drilling and data collection programs, including material property testing and in situ stress measurement.

Worked on a part time basis while completing my PhD studies

I worked as a Postgraduate Researcher with the Australian Centre for Geomechanics (“ACG”) as part of the Mine Seismicity and Rockburst Risk Management project. My PhD research focused on quantifying the rockburst potential of underground excavations submitted to seismic loads. The aim of the thesis was to develop site-specific empirical models to predict locations of rockburst damage at mines.During this period, substantial periods of time was spent at project sponsors mines (Hill 50, Darlot, Big Bell, Mt Charlotte and Junction mines) collecting site data and assisting site personnel with the installation and operation of the seismic systems.

I gained practical underground experience at Normandy Mining’s Golden Grove Operations. Time spent on development and production drilling rigs, production bogging, trucking and installation of mine services at Golden Grove.

I worked as a Mining Engineer at Normandy Mining’s Mt Leyshon mine in various engineering roles. The work involved the implementation, review and planning of the drill and blast operations, coordination and monitoring of contractor operations, design of waste dump stockpile profiles, slope stability assessment and support design, installation and operation of geotechnical instrumentation, geotechnical mapping, mine planning and production scheduling.
