About John Barr

When I was a teenager my mother moved me to a new town. Along with the move she purchased a home computer. I was introduced to Windows 95 and my love for computers began. Spending my time researching how this magical box worked, I was introduced quickly to computer components and how many parts made this one computer work. I quickly became the guy friends called to help with technology-related issues or setup. I have grown using almost all Windows Operating Systems. When I entered the professional tech industry in 2013 it was like a duck to water moment. I worked many jobs helping customers and marrying technology with customer service was natural. I was able to break complex topics down to easily understood instructions for the user requesting information. I learned how to write test plans and fully test product design documentation for new software releases. I wrote change order documentation for engineering teams to implement change orders to the software. I managed my time individually and with my teams to meet code freeze deadlines. Regression testing software to ensure new implementation did not break older code. I feel my strongest attribute is to communicate with clients to resolve issues and determine if there is a legitimate issue with the software or in its use. Help someone navigate the different screens of the application and the functionality of each field on a screen. Using SQL to pull relevant data for client inquiries. I find myself outside work learning on the Udemy platform. I love learning new things to add to my skill set and want to do more programming moving forward. Being able to read code has really helped in finding defects and addressing them. It has also been huge in my quest to write code myself.
