In my role as Distinguished Engineer, I worked closely with the CTO to do both short and long term planning for our architecture and infrastructure. My day-to-day responsibilities included managing our engineering/development team as well as managing budgets for costs.I brought large upgrades to our development life cycle in the form of devops and automation, simplifying our release and management tasks considerably. I was also responsible for our cloud operations and product releases.

Serving as an Architect for Customer Operations, my responsibilities range from designing cloud systems in Azure to managing interactions between clients, internal corporate groups, or both. In this role, I oversee the operation and security of multiple server environments as well as own the compliance initiatives for these environments. I also oversee the architecture and development of internal tools and utilities used by various teams to perform their daily job functions.Key projects:Developed and deployed a cloud-based large scale Wordpress hosting environment for Blackbaud Website Solutions powered by Wordpress. This environment is required to be PCI DSS compliant as well as providing superior service and uptime to the clients that use this product for their website hosting. Non-profits receive donations via these websites, which are critical to their mission. I developed custom dashboards and monitoring software to help maintain compliance in this environment and also to provide a way to manage large numbers of Wordpress installations from a security and stability stand point.Deployed systems that resulted in large cost savings to the company, streamlining infrastructure and some server environments.

Managing a team of principal technical consultants. Architect, develop and support all internal utilities used by the technical consulting department in their every day job functions. Provide unique solutions to client problems as well as manage the implementations of those projects. Perform regular budgeting and forecasting.Key projects:Developed two generations of ETL utility suites to used on two different generations of Blackbaud software, including the new Infinity platform. I designed the architecture for the most recent generation of utilities to be scalable, handling data from small flat files all the way through multi-terabyte databases.We designed a “Visual Mapping” software that revolutionizes customer driven data conversions regardless of data size or scale. This unique user interface offers a new approach to moving data between two structured systems. It was designed in such a way that makes it source/destination agnostic, and could be applied in many situations outside of Blackbaud data conversions. It is currently in use by the Blackbaud data conversion team, and is being evaluated for other uses as well.We developed a project management system integrated with SAP, SalesLogix, and Clarify. This system is used daily by all members of the Professional Services staff. Users of this internal system have much more control over their work, reducing admin hours and increasing overall EBIT. Designed new methods and technology to assist the Professional Services management and executive teams in accurate revenue forecasting during the transition from T&M/Fixed Price services to SaaS services.Innovated time-saving processes, including standard data transformation packages, resulting in easier sales and migrations from competing systems.Designed large scale SQL implementations for handling enterprise level clients, including March of Dimes and the American Red Cross, among others.

Utilized as both an on-site project manager as well as doing development on next-generation technologies. In the project manager role, handled all aspects from network layout/wiring to software installation, configuration and training. Key projects:Designed and implemented over 100 Point of Sale installations.Developed a web-based aggregation system allowing multi-site owners to manage their businesses from one central location.

Managed all IT operations including network security, help-desk, and websites.
