Managed a team to create genetically bar-coded strains, providing the basis of the group’s unique scientific platform. Involved in all aspects of the Candida albicans Fitness Test developed in-house, whereby natural extracts and synthetic compounds which inhibit C. albicans growth are applied to a pool of bar-coded heterozygote strains to challenge the pool of strains, creating potential competitive inhibition. Subsequent preparation of pool genomic DNA and its application to a DNA micro-array platform allows for analysis of potential compound/target interaction using in-house bioinformatics and data-analysis techniques. I was involved daily in virtually every aspect of this process, from compound/extract acquisition, attaining appropriate IC values, DNA preparation, DNA micro-array chip printing, hybridization of fluorophore probes in micro-array chambers, to chip scanning and array data-analysis.

Helped develop technologies that laid the groundwork and operating philosophy of the company, specifically through helping to implement novel selection markers and inducible promoters for the pathogenic yeast Candida albicans (GRACE strategy). Successfully developed a PCR-based transformation procedure for C. albicans—previously thought to be unachievable in this organism by the research community.
