Member of small team responsible for shared global IT services and, until 2009, new product introduction. Specialized in standardization & automation of global computing environments.- Ottawa project manager for Nortel's 2006 migration of 60Tb NAS off 21 EMC Celerra datamovers and refresh of 30Tb SAN attached to 66 critical servers when Nortel only had ~325Tb globally. This involved planning & co-ordination of IT personnel, storage vendor engineers and application owners for multiple maintenance outages within 2 month period. This project saved Nortel over $10M and I accumulated 42 days of overtime within 45 calendar days.- Evaluated 3rdparty archiving solutions (Arkivio, Commvault, EMC DiskExtender) including proof of concept trial in 2008.- Chaired weekly engineering forum from 2007 to 2010, focussing on computing environment standards and system configurations controllable via cfengine.- Developed perl mechanism that compares network printers configured on UNIX-based systems against a list and automatically adds any missing. UNIX systems analyst responsible for NAS storage and 3rd level IT support in role that gradually expanded to global scope.- Developed in-house perl script for agent-less collection via ssh, parsing and centralized reporting of native system state and storage information, including mapping physical disks to exported volumes involving a myriad of different file structures for Solaris, HP-UX, Linux, AIX, NetApp, EMC Celerra and Auspex systems. Its polling of over 2000 non-Windows servers saved Nortel $6M in 2002 and provided data for mechanism generating NIS automounter maps hourly at all major Nortel sites, also developed by me.- Developed in-house NFS scanning/reporting tool that summarized file level attributes per filesystem for all Nortel NAS data, facilitating optimization programs and was instrumental in all of Nortel's divestiture planning from late 2006 to 2011.- Engineering and operational oversight for CVS-controlled implementation of cfengine managing 3/4 of Nortel's non-lab UNIX-based server/workstation systems in Ottawa since 1998 and globally 2001-2011- Auspex NS600/NS7000/NS2000, Netapp 7-mode, EMC Celerra & Symmetrix, Hitachi & HP XP512 storage arrays with McData/Connectrix/Brocade SAN switches- Solaris 5/6/7/8, HP-UX 9/10, RHEL 4, some AIX 4.X, Xterminals
