Alongside my role as the website and content administrator for the buildingSMART international technical website, I worked with the technical community to prototype a modernised experience for each of the working groups to create, manage and evolve technical data throughout its lifecycle.Leveraging Git, OpenSource and a crowdsourcing model, I was able to provide a documentation experience that closer aligned with the developer experience that the user was accustomed to. Updates were managed through git/GitHub and the most up to date content was published immediately via the buildingSMART domain so that AEC professionals in a more accessible and user friendly way.

Jenca provides an open source and modular project management platform capable of delivering an ecosystem of tools and workflows for AEC organisations and projects.The platform uses an innovative micro service architecture on top of Kubernetes that can be extended by a developer community to provide domain specific features to AEC users via Applications. Applications are distributed via a marketplace making it simple for end users to choose and deploy technologies to their project. The modular platform approach was a "spin off" of the model required to deliver innovation in previously owned BIM technologies Consultancy - BIM Script.

A technology focused consultancy for the AEC sectors.Our key client was VolkerFitzpatrick - We designed and project managed the development of a modular CDE by combining the following technologies into a single accessible platform:* Document Management Modules - Collaborative document management, sharing and tracking.* Virtual Reality Module - View 3D "BIM" in Oculus Rift.* Augmented Reality Module - Make "BIM" more accessible via print of QR tags and view.* 3D printing Module - Order 3D prints to assist with design communication.* Immersive Viewing Module - View "BIM" in the context of an immersive "cave" environment.We also worked with this client to prototype new novel services for the industry including:* Drone + Scan - Enabled teams to do site surveys of large expanses of rail infrastructure using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles during the planning phase of the building lifecycle.* Environmental analysis - Development of software and hardware to provide an 8 sensor microcontroller boards to monitor environmental conditions in building environments during the operations phase of the building lifecycle.My role within the company included:* Client facing activities* Co-development of technology strategy* Conference speaking and trade shows* Co-management of product development * Co-research of platform technologies and components* Establishing a platform specification* Implementing platform delivery and developer coordination

This society was founded to take a multidisciplinary approach to design. Students whose background degrees included Architecture, computer science and micro electronics came together to work on projects that would allow each of them to cross pollinate ideas and skills. Frequent workshops took place throughout the university year to design and develop a novel product to enable the recreation of physical objects in digital space. The team implemented this by developing a 3D laser scanning software and turntable (3D printed, stepper motor, wiring) using open source components. The "scan" could be viewed in an open source web based viewer (JavaScript) with compatibility for a virtual reality headset. The project was a focal point at the end of year, highly anticipated, UWE architecture show.

I worked as a part of the "Advanced technology" module to deliver "beginner" level Autodesk Revit software training to students. I also provided private tuition to students that were seeking a more advanced knowledge of the software.

Part of the BIM production team, my role focused on creating more efficient workflows for teams by discovering and appraising new solutions and tools for the business. Where off the shelf solutions were unavailable, I worked with a small team of software developers to design and deliver in house solutions. Key projects:* Development of a tunnel services design algorithm for use on Doha Green Line, Qatar using Grasshopper.* Implementation of Lighting simulation engine integration with Revit using Radiance for Sustainability team. * Development of a reusable framework for interoperability workflows between Revit, Excel, NHER, Rhino, Grasshopper, Aecosim and IFC.* Discovering new methodologies and technologies through attendance at BIM and emerging computational design conferences across Europe to set the agenda for future areas of focus the team.

Worked with my family run flooring subcontractor to install wet and dry screed applications on construction sites across the west of Ireland.
