The Oxford English Dictionary defines expert as "...a person with special knowledge, skill or training..." which perfectly defines all my skills and areas listed here.Most of what you see is self taught. I found school particularly boring whether public school or university. I learn by action and I take lessons learned in the past and apply those to whatever current project or field I am study at the moment. In addition, I seek out those with the expertise I want so I can learn from them. Reading, writing and editing are the foundations on which I built my expertise. Through synchronicity, I gained deep, hands-on experience in all of these fields. The backbone of all my knowledge was my mother, a particularly brilliant woman who refused the expectations and boundaries others set for her. She instilled in me a love of reading, learning, exploring the world around me and my maddening (to many) penchant to challenge rote beliefs and thinking.In addition, she taught English in my tiny home town and she taught my English classes in 7th and 8th grade. Not once, in those two years, did she ever call on me when I raised my hand. For two years under her tutelage, we diagramed sentences until I never wanted to see another sentence diagram. I did not realize her insistence and perseverance gave me the gift of being a good writer.Currently, I am putting together my CV to post here and to my website highlighting that expertise. I still find surprising the number of things I listed. They are, however, what I know and what I can, with all confidence, claim as my base of knowledge.Thank you for taking time to read this and I hope it gives you an idea of my abilities. Show less
