During my contract with Tighten I have been helping to migrate a 15+ year old custom PHP application over to a Laravel-based project. This work has so far involved the design and development of new UI including a complex UI to allow users to handle assignment and conflict resolution for staff. In this project I've been working with another staff developer directly with the client.

During a second contract with Finch I helped the company transition to a new tech stack. At this stage the company had a new full-time developer and my work involved supporting them to build a new customer portal in Next.js.Work included integrating ClerkJS as an authentication solution, design and development of new templates, and working with the data team to design new approaches to scoring ingest that worked with new data pipelines and scoring approaches that team were developing.

During this contract with Amp (previously The Commerce Co) I was tasked with helping to 'land' the Addition - Australia Post Shipping ecommerce app after Amp had acquired the app from Addition. Having worked extensively on this app with the previous owner/developer I was in a unique position to help the new owners to get to grips with their new aquisition and to develop some features that were critical to the goals Amp had for the app.Work included consulting on potential for new features, developing a new robust onboarding feature to improve retention, reconfiguration of billing to allow for multiple plans. I also worked extensively with the new customer support hire to try to ensure that support tickets were answered to a high standard. I also recruited a second developer to the team.

I joined Finch as their first full-time software engineer and it was my responsibility to design and deliver the company's go-to-market product. This work involved the creation of a Laravel-based platform that could ingest sustainability scores generated for 250k+ Amazon products and then make these available via an authenticated API. This API was consumed by a browser extension that I also authored as part of this work. This browser extension surfaced scores and supplementary information for Finch users when browsing amazon.com.During this period I also redeveloped Finch's marketing site - moving form Squarespace to a Twill-powered CMS.

My role at Addition was to plan, build and maintain a suite of Shopify e-commerce applications as well as the surrounding support and marketing infrastructure of the company. This work involved development across a range of technologies and contexts including PHP/Laravel, VueJS, React, JavaScript/Typescript, HTML, CSS as well as developing and maintaining our server architecture (a mix of serverless and VPS).In my role as team lead my responsibilities included planning workload for the team, holding code reviews, mentoring and developing coding standards that the whole team could incorporate into their work.
