Centre: My First Skool @ Blk 443A Fajar Road.Taught a N2 Class (3-4 years old) together with another english teacher and chinese teacher.- Took charge of planning a curriculum and resources for 2 children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)- Implemented core lessons planned by HQ.- Collaborated with the other english teacher to plan and implement for 2 inquiry projects in term 1 and term 2, with Fish and Rain themes respectively.- Assisted other classes when the main teacher was not in. And implemented their lessons on their behalf.Through these opportunities, I further honed the following skills.- Early Intervention and developing a child centred curriculum, as I learnt to observe a child with needs, and create an individualised curriculum suited to his/her developmental needs. This invaluable experience of working with children on the autism spectrum also made me a more patient teacher as I learnt to only teach concepts/skills when the child is ready.

And was attached to the Nursery class (3-4 years old) from January 2022 to February 2022.While working as an intern preschool teacher, I was tasked to do the following:- Planned, implemented, and evaluated 10 lesson plans aligned to the 6 learning areas in the Nurturing Early Learners framework. - Planned a 4 weeks long Inquiry Project with 20 lessons, based on the K1's class interest in the "Cats Family - Collaborated with the Singapore Zoo and organized for a virtual field trip to the rainforest enclosure in the zoo catered to the K1 and K2 class. - Completed a child portfolio, stating a child’s strengths and areas of improvements across the 6 learning areas in the Nurturing Early Learners framework- Set up Language, Numeracy and Discovery of the World learning corners for a K2 Class.- Developed visual cards and a checklist for a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.These valuable experiences gave me an opportunity to:- Develop a child-centred curriculum catered to children's interests and readiness to learn. - Adopt a "Learning Through Play" teaching pedagogy as I plan for fun and interactive learning corner activities and lesson plans.- Honed classroom management skills, and became proficient to teach a large class of children (23 children in K1, 30 Children in Nursery)- Applied intervention strategies and observational skills, as I observed the child diagnosed with ASD and planned for visual cards and checklists to suit her learning needs.

During my time at H&M I was tasked to do the following: - Tidy and replenish the sales floor - Cashiering and Fitting Room duties- Visual Merchandising - Planning of selling floor, and displaying new allocations- Was put in charge of the Mens and Kids Department together with another Department Manager This job was meaningful in many ways, and I was able pick up many skills such as:- Leadership skills, as I was called to higher levels of responsibility. Such as being the co in-charge of 1 department.- Interpersonal skills, I had to juggle both school work, personal life, and this part time stint. Hence, I became very efficient in time management, and was able to cope with long hours of work and assignment datelines at the same time.- Customer Service, I became efficient in handling customer complaints and queries.- Problem solving and thinking out of the box, as the retail environment is very fast paced. I was always on my two feet, and was able to solve unanticipated problems quickly

It was a meaningful experience, and I had to opportunity to: - Plan, implement and evaluate 3 lessons, aligned to the NEL framework and iTeach Principles- Plan, set-up and facilitated the activities at the Numeracy learning corner- Participate and assist host teacher in caregiving routines and lessons- Interact with children and facilitate their learning and development during play & activities- Apply different classroom management techniques and strategiesAll these valuable experiences has allowed me to grow further as an individual and as an early educator as I got to:- Hone my interpersonal & effective communication skills through interacting and communicating with the children, teachers and parents- Develop effective classroom management strategies and techniques, and being equipped with the knowledge and experiences in handling challenging classroom situations- Equipped myself with curriculum planning skills, and was able to align my lessons to the Nurturing Early Learners (NEL) and iTeach Principles- Creating developmentally appropriate lesson materials, that are suited to my class's learning level- Honed my interpersonal skills, as I worked to meet both the needs of children, and the tasks at hand.
