Profile bio

About Johnathan Brown

Having just graduated from Michigan Ross' full-time MBA program, I'm passionate about pursuing brand management roles. I want to be a brand manager because it’s a blend of art and science. Although data can point us towards what we think creates value for our customers, their beliefs and culture also influence their behaviors within the market. So, our job is to find the right balance of art and science to innovate our products to best complement our consumers’ lives. Brand management also provides me with an opportunity to work with cross-functional teams. As a Marine, I worked with teams across human capital, operations, and supply chain to find economical and innovative options to new opportunities. And pursuing a career in brand management empowers me to refine those skills to create personal and professional value. As a Logistics & Operations Leader with 10+ years of experience, I coordinated and led teams to deliver first-class global support spanning supply chain management, logistics, communications, engineering, and diverse other functions for the United States Marine Corps (USMC). Recognized as an extraordinary team builder who creates competence, cohesion, and who further amplifies it with my leadership style capable of balancing analytical and strategic thinking with decisive execution to rapidly adapt in fast-paced, constantly evolving environments. This included implementing complex global operations and supply initiatives and a trial-tested ability to quickly absorb and apply the intricacies of new fields.Regardless of serving four years or 40 years, I knew that I would transition from Active Duty at some point and decided that I wanted to pursue brand management roles in entertainment. My USMC roles provided opportunities to experiment in the function, but I applied to MBA programs to bridge the gap between my experiences and the required institutional knowledge to succeed as a brand manager. When evaluating MBA programs based on credibility, connections, and culture, I choose Michigan Ross because of its passionate "pay it forward" culture. That culture enabled me to succeed as a Marine, influence other Marines' successes, and I want that for my MBA experience and beyond.
