Hay Point Expansion Stage 3, Queensland, Australia- HPX3 is the expansion of the Hay Point Coal Terminal (located at 20km south of Mackay, Queensland), aimed at increasing terminal throughput and operational flexibility. The project essentially comprises a new third berth and shiploader, two new surge bins and outloading conveyor systems, and various upgrades to existing material handling equipment. The project sum is about $3 billion.- Key member in providing technical advices and engineering supports to marine structural issues during the construction phase of the project, such as clarification of the Project Specification and Drawings, reviewing field changes proposed by the Contractors and providing solutions on non-conforming items in a timely manner. Mainly involved in reviewing pile driving works, providing anchoring solutions to piles, and dealing with queries associated with steel works and concrete works.

The projects involved include:Hay Point Expansion 3, Queensland, Australia- Seconded to Aurecon Hatch for two years. In charge of the design of two offshore transfer tower platforms and two offshore berth links, in both of the definition phase and the execution phase.Aurukun Project Feasibility Study, Queensland, Australia- Responsible for the feasibility design for proposed port facilities at Boyd Point for the export of Bauxite from West Coast of Cape York to the refinery located at Abbot Point on the East Coast of Queensland. Koniambo Nickel Project, New Caledonia- In charge of the preparation of the design of breasting dolphins for temporary cruise ship berth, and undertaking design checking for both the main wharf and construction wharf as part of the $3.5 billion project to export nickel and import coal and limestone.Saldanha Manganese Export Terminal- Feasibility Design- Prepared the prefeasibility design for the proposed pile-decked wharf for Panamax bulk carriers and assessed the possibility of upgrading the existing berth.Adelaide Desalination Project, Australia- Carried out structural and durability assessment of the proposed Ultra Filtration tank, and structural design for miscellaneous elements of the main process building.Groote Eylandt - Safety boat davit- In charge of the preparation of the design of the safety boat launching structures and assessed the load bearing capacity of existing wharf and jetty for a new mobile crane.

The projects involved include:Ras Az Zawr Port Project, Saudi Arabic- In charge of the preparation of the design of gravity quay structure for berths and cargo ramp and design of revetment. Carried out preliminary design of the navigation channel and navigation basin.Kai Tak Development Engineering Study cum Design and Construction of Advance Works, Hong Kong- Involved in the engineering study phase of the project. In charge of the investigation of different feasible options of berth structures and responsible for the preliminary design of cruise terminal quay structure, apron layout and passenger boarding bridge. - Visited cruise terminals at Savona in Italy, Barcelona in Spain and Yokohama in Japan with Government Delegates and participated workshops and site tours with the above cruise terminal operators to understand the operational sides of the cruise terminals.Second Container Terminal at Chennai Port, India- Responsible for the planning of terminal layout and the design of container terminal quay structure, seawall and preparation of tender documents.Yantian Port Phase III Expansion Project, Shenzhen, China-Responsible for the Independent Design Checking of the design of the port expansion. Carried out structural analysis and checking of piled-deck structures, caissons, revetment, foundation and soil treatment of reclaimed land.Bollard Upgrading at Kwai Chung Container Terminal 7, Hong Kong- Carried out structural checking of existing quay structure for the bollard upgrade.International Cruise Terminal, Singapore- Prepared preliminary structural design and operational layout for the proposed cruise terminal at marina south.

Al Raha Beach Development, Abu Dhabi, UAE- The development spreads over 5 sq. km and is built over reclaimed land. The development consists of 11 precincts that include hotels, marinas, parks, restaurants as well as leisure facilities and can accommodate over 120,000 residents. The estimated sum of the development is $18 billion.- Responsible for design of various types of marine structures including canal, marina, beach and ferry terminal, and undertook technical review of tenders’ submissions and prepared tender documents.

The projects involved include:Yantian Port Phase IIIa, Shenzhen, China- Responsible for the Independent Design Checking of the design of Yantian Port Phase IIIa Development which involves 1.5km berth length. Carried out structural analysis and design checking of the quay deck structures and revetment.Port of Cristobal New Berth 10, Mexico - Investigated different options and prepared preliminary design for quay structures and revetment for the proposed 350m length deep water berth for container vessels.Basin Dredging at Kwai Chung Container Terminal 6 & 7 Berth 8, 9 & 10, Hong Kong - Responsible for the detailed design, government submissions, preparation of contract documents and tender assessment.Stonecutter Bridge- Design of Temporary Jetty, Hong Kong- Involved in the design of the two temporary steel truss jetties to serve barges carrying prefabricated bridge deck units for the construction of the bridge. Structural Appraisal at LPG Jetty at GaoMing, Foshan, China - Responsible for the technical assessment on the existing LPG jetty.

Reconstruction of Catchwater Channels and Upgrading of Adjoining Priority Slopes on Hong Kong Island and Lantau Island, Hong Kong- Assist in the supervision of the reconstruction of catchwater channels and slope upgrading works, including contract administration, resolving technical problems, checking contractor’s submissions, liaising with various parties, participation in site safety and environmental activities, monitoring progress as well as staff management and supervision of construction works.

The projects involved include:Kwai Chung Container Terminal 9, Hong Kong- Responsible for the structural analysis and design of quay deck structure for the container terminal which is built on a reclaimed land. The terminal consists of 6 berths and is capable of handling 3 million TEU per annum and the project sums is about $500 million.Tai O Development- Sheltered Boat Anchorage, Hong Kong- The development provides four-hectare typhoon shelter space for fishermen boats in Tai O. Works included channel dredging, construction of 130m long piled-deck promenade together with a 630m long seawall. The project sum is about $35 million.Responsible for the detailed design of the piled-deck structure, retaining wall and preparation of tender documents.Lazaro Cardenas Terminal, Mexico - Prepared preliminary design for the drainage system for the proposed container terminal development.Eastern Access Road - Footbridge Design, Hong Kong- Responsible for detailed design of steel truss footbridge and foundation and preparation of drawings.
