Providing strategic direction , leadership, and evaluation for the comprehensive major gift program in Southern Alberta including, leadership/major giving, and prospect research.

Identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of new prospects and existing donors. As part of the commitment to the integrated fundraising model, the Major Gift Officer will engage existing donors (i.e. annual donors or event participants) who have capacity for larger support, including major gifts and planned gifts.

Working as an integral team member in United Way's Donor Relations and Resource Development department, I work closely with volunteers to develop and implement annual campaign workplace giving initiatives that are based on industry best practices, market research and data analysis. Develop and maintain relationships with donors through information sharing, consultingand connecting, and work to support and develop future partnerships.Work with volunteers to develop and implement donor relations and fundraising programswithin specific areas of the campaign, including workplace, corporate, and individual giving.

• Responsible for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of the institution’s major donors • Acts as the principal donor strategist for each prospect • Identifies, recruits and supports senior administrators and other key stakeholders for participation in gift solicitations.• Provides leadership and direction to high level volunteers• Identifies prospects who may be ready for a transformational gift ($500,000+) • Actively participates in "moves management" sessions for the Donor Relations gift team • Works closely with the key members of the department to plan targeted outreach activities aimed at increasing the donor pool and cultivating/stewarding existing prospects.• Represent the University of Manitoba to external constituencies and facilitate relationships between individuals, corporations, foundations and key members of the university, leading to gifts.• Works with Deans to develop case for support for faculty fundraising priorities• Develops faculty fundraising plans, in conjunction with the Donor Relations team• Regularly communicates plans and progress against the goal to the Dean• Provides accurate advice and support to faculty who are seeking external funding, to identify appropriate funding opportunities

• Secure donations at the $25,000+ gift level, with a focus on gifts in the $100,000 to $1 million range• Develop prospect lists and qualify new donors• Assist Faculty members, unit leaders and volunteers in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors to the Faculty;• Build strong relationships with donors; develop stewardship and cultivation plans• Lead and manage a Faculty leadership giving program• Work effectively in a large, complex, dynamic and sophisticated organization• Ensure confidentiality and strong professional ethics, demonstrating honesty, integrity, high standards, and understanding and commitment to an academic environment;• Plan to achieve fundraising targets, while recognizing that achievement of financial targets is not the only measurement of success for a fundraiser. Define and achieve other measurables with the Senior Director of Development.• Collaborate with the Central Development Office to ensure coordination of the Faculty of Medicine fundraising priorities with institutional strategies for donors• Practice ethical fundraising in keeping with the University’s mission and values and in accordance with charitable giving standards.

SIFE Sustainable Living- Project Manager •Planned initiatives that decreased the ecological footprint left by Graceland University and the Lamoni community SIFE Visual Design Team •Documented SIFE team progress through video and still pictures. Created a 24 minute video presentation shown at both regional and national competitions SIFE Pick Up the Pace: •Taught basic financial literacy and life skills to youth in a juvenile detention center impacting 15 individuals. SIFE Ethics Team- Project Manager: •Facilitated educational projects for small local businesses on ethical decision making.

•Developed a safe and enriching residential experience for a diverse group of 45 university men.•Lead a house council of 6 student leaders in budgeting, organizing, and advertising multiple social events, weekly meetings, and other house activities throughout the year. •Participated in ongoing professional development trainings in active listening techniques, assertiveness, leadership strategies, management, and policy administration.

• Drafted a cost/benefit analysis on the advantages of recreation therapy. This document will be used when applying for further government aide. •Planned and executed recreational activities for individuals with both mental and physical disadvantages.

New Orleans Work Camp: March 2009 •Lead the demolition of ten, two story condos that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. Thailand Education Program: January 2009 •Conducted a workshop on financial literacy, marketing, customer service, and self-sustainable agriculture. Honduras Work Camp: January 2008 •Worked with a non-profit organization in Horcancitos, Honduras building a watershed, and completing structural renovations on a school.
