During my Senior Project, I prepared and soldered graphene samples to silicon wafers as part of an experiment to create a cost-effective Graphene Field Effect Transistor. I built a device that partially melted and stretched a glass pipet tip, this elongated tip was then acid etched so it would allow electron flow. This allowed the creation of an in-house fine tipped Ag/AgCl reference electrode. During my Senior Capstone, I was part of a team that worked with Boeing engineers to create a mechanical fixture device that was designed to attach to an airplane and treat the surface of a thermoplastic with plasma. This project helped me understand the difficulties of having a project that needs to be completed in a short amount of time while also starting with just a concept. It also taught me the importance of using iterations as after the project, the team had many ways in which we knew we could improve the system.· I used SolidWorks to rapidly design and model different design iterations. Eventually, a belt and gantry design was chosen.· Materials were selected based on desired properties and cost. I made modifications using a drill press.· The project ended in a successful test with plans to have the project continue as a future capstone project.

I was responsible for establishing, passaging, and cryopreserving porcine skin cell cultures. I also analyzed the regeneration rate of porcine skin cells using a scratch assay. Image analysis was utilized to track the rate of wound healing and find relations between the healing factor, cell media, and cell type. Flow Cytometry was utilized to count the number of cells and what phase of growth they were in.

While volunteering for Dr. Gibran's research lab at Harborview Medical Center, I collected and purified DNA/RNA from tissue samples of burn victims. Gene sequencing was performed to identify genetic variants that impact recovery and scarification. When not working with samples, I utilized Tableau to analyze survey data from burn victims, this analysis helped to confirm several hypotheses the lab had. I also reviewed SDSs of hazardous chemicals and established protocols for proper disposal and lab safety.
