About Johnathan Sublet
Currently, I serve as the full-time servant pastor of Fellowship Hi-Crest Church in Topeka, Kansas, where I lead a multi-cultural team committed to walking in community with others through the power of Jesus. When I’m not preaching about the good news, I can be seen volunteering and serving on the board of many community organizations dedicated to lifting up underserved communities – like the Hi-Crest Neighborhood where I live with my family. My belief that everyone has value and something to offer, leads me to get involved in areas related to community development, health, housing, education, racial reconciliation, and economic empowerment. One such organization is a non-religious, 501(c)3 – SENT Inc. – founded by myself and a few others in 2018. SENT was born from a desire to mobilize my community to strengthen and equip our neighborhood together. My community leadership doesn’t end there – I’m also a member of the Diversity Council for Washburn Univ. Edu. Dept. where I work to increase the representation of minority male teachers in Topeka’s 501 school district. And, as a member of the Communities in Schools – Adult-to-Adult Parent Mentor Program steering committee, I serve not only on the ground as a peer mentor, but I also helped design the program to increase access for families. As a part of the Seat at The Table Steering Team of the Greater Topeka Partnership, I am a part of promoting equity and inclusion for Shawnee County citizens through open dialog. Through my work on the City of Topeka Affordable Housing Taskforce, I am working to improve access to affordable housing to Shawnee County. My natural ability to cast a compelling vision and bring others into the work allows me to empower the people I lead to make a difference in their communities. I work with a diverse group of people so that everyone can see themselves in the vision to transform their communities. In my early career, I worked as a chemical engineer in a Fortune 100 company, where I developed leadership skills working with a diverse team on large-scale projects. While working, I earned my Master of Arts in Christian Education & Educational Leadership from Dallas Theological Seminary. But, when a mentor challenged me to find the “one thing” I had to do, rather than “all the things” I could do, I left it all behind and raise support as a missionary church planter. I’ve never looked back.
Listed skills include Process Engineering, Six Sigma, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing, and 32 others.
