Over the years of doing and managing IT, I developed the abilities of having a good foresight on handling projects, running an IT environment, creating reports, presenting technical jargons to non-technical people, etc.Update: November 2019. Loved this job, had a great boss aka @Keith Farndon. Company is a premier IBM business partner. We housed an IBM-funded innovation center where we showcased the latest and greatest IBM technology and solutions. Our clientele are from multiple sectors (education, financial, medical, etc). Clients we worked with are Columbia University, New York Stock Exchange, Deposity Trust and Clearing Company, Deutsche Bank, Bank of New York, Jamaica Hospital, Montefiore Hospital, to name a few. Boss was trusting enough to have me manage our headquarters in downtown NY. We had a small but dynamic team that wear different hats. I did play sales and technical roles in this company.I am forever grateful to my boss/owner here. This is where I learned and sharpened my IT skills. I went to classes and training on IBM technology (UNIX systems, Intel systems, Storage systems, IBM software, etc). I also learned a lot when the boss assigned me to manage the office, IT team, IBM demo center and 2 IBM classrooms.

How can you complain, just a couple of years out of college, and you get to work for your high school classmate and good friend. I never considered this work, I just performed the sales manager's duties, then hang out with the boss. :)We sold IT peripherals. Company was an authorized reseller of most of the major brands (HP, APC, Creative Labs, Asus, etc.)

Ahhh, the good old analog cellular technology. Extelcom used to be one of the major cellular phone service providers in the Philippines, but at those times, cellular fraud (on AMPS and NAMPS technology) was pretty rampant too. So my duties here were: monitoring and preventing cellular fraud, I also served as a liaison between accounting and technical departments, and some other things that I can't remember. (hey, this has been more than 20 years ago!!!)
