John teaches graduate level Human Factors classes in various departments. He is located on the Daytona Beach, FL Campus.

Very early faculty member in the ERAU on-line distance education program, developed their master's level human factors class and taught it on line for over 15 years. Chaired numerous thesis committees. Currently re-certified to teach using the Blackboard system.

Appointed as full professor in then-new Department of Human Factors and Systems. Served as program coordinator of MS in Human Factors and Systems Engineering. Taught numerous graduate and undergraduate classes in human factors engineering and information systems. Funded by NATO, EUROCONTROL, DGAC, and the FAA to organize a series in international post-doc workshops that addressed future ATC needed and expected problems. Served on international human factors team that evaluated new Australian air traffic control system that influenced final design of air traffic control workstation.

The staff of The Wise Group, LLC provides expertise in all of the human sciences including: Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Psychology, Neural Psychology, Nutrition, and Organizational Behavior. It is currently available for providing human factors expert witness support in aviation related civil cases. Offices located in Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina.

The European Association for Aviation Psychology (EAAP) provides a forum for professionals working in the various domains of aviation psychology and human factors. With more than 300 members from 36 European and non-European countries EAAP facilitates (from a European perspective) a professional network to encourage the successful management of human performance in aviation.

The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society is an interdisciplinary nonprofit organization of professional people who are involved in the human factors field. The Society promotes the discovery and exchange of knowledge concerning the characteristics of human beings that are applicable to the design of systems and devices of all kinds.

Performed high level analysis and empirical research in support of future avionic human-machine interfaces. Served on avionic human factors team on NASA’s Orion Exploration Vehicle designed to take humans back to the Moon, then to Mars. Led air-side human factors section of two European-funded studies in revolutionary air traffic management concepts: ERASMUS http://www.atm-erasmus.com/ and iFLY. http://ifly.nlr.nl/ Both programs involved collaborating with staff of leading European academic, industrial and government research centers.

he was the director of several international interdisciplinary teams on projects sponsored by NATO, the FAA, NASA, NATO, Eurocontrol, DGAC, and the Centre d'Etudes de la Navigation Aerienne. The Institutes addressed: Failure Analysis of Information Systems Automation and System Issues in Air Traffic Control Verification and Validation of Air Traffic Systems Human Factors Certification of Advanced Aviation Technology

His primary duties included the design and evaluation of state-of-the-art display methodologies and advanced control room and cockpit design concepts for a variety of applications. He was principal investigator, and had project management responsibility on the vast majority of his projects.

He was a senior engineer involved for over a year in the design and evaluation of the F/A-18 crew station. He spent three years on advanced design projects were he was responsible for human factors and information presentation issues associated with advanced crew stations (e.g., F-15E and AV-8B) and command/control type surface stations. This work focused on eliminating interpretation errors in a high-speed real-time decision making environment.

He spent over five years as an U.S. Air Force instructor pilot in the T-38A http://www.warbirdalley.com/articles/t38pr.htm He also acted as a traffic controller for advanced jet training. He accumulated over 1800 hours as pilot-in-command in military aircraft.
