Started up a real estate development/management company after being inspired by Teo Nicolais' Real Estate Finance and Investment course at Harvard. Just one unit under management but that's more than I had last year!

The BCIA is responsible for initiating and/or assisting local and county development projects and providing favorable financing to other government entities. It also provides oversight and stewardship of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center (formerly Bergen Regional Medical Center) -the largest hospital in the state (and fourth largest public hospital in the US). I also served on the Executive and Finance Committees of the oversight committee which made major recommendations on revitalizing the Bergen New Bridge Medical Center after decades of neglect and reputational decay. On a personal note, I am particularly interested in promoting smart growth and economic development/redevelopment and the creation of a Foreign Trade Zone in Bergen County.

A municipal Assessor has quasi-judicial powers and responsibilities to determined taxability and assessments of property. However, a good Assessor must also be willing to develop a good relationship with all stakeholders from residents to business owners and developers. As the Assessor in Bergenfield, I am charged with oversight over the team of lawyers and experts responsible for defense of tax related litigation as well as being the primary negotiator. I am also assisting the Mayor and Council in bringing in developers to help Bergenfield re-develop the community to meet our present and future needs

The Choi Law Group is one of the most prominent Korean-American law firms in the state. Members of the Choi Law Group have been/are the first or only Korean-American Municipal Court Judge, Tax Attorney, Tax Assessor, Borough Attorney, School Board Attorney, Municipal Prosecutor, Municipal Public Defender, General Counsel to the County Clerk, Municipal Labor Counsel and Alcohol Board Attorney in New Jersey. Members of the Choi Law Group have served/currently serve as elected Borough Council member, elected School Board member, County Freeholder, Planning Board member and political party official.

I represent various municipalities and other government entities. I am representing or have recently represented the municipalities Bergenfield, Carlstadt, Englewood Cliffs, Fort Lee, Northvale, Palisades Park, Roselle Park and Saddle Brook. I also served as Co-General Counsel to the County Clerk.

Opened and ran a restaurant designed to give customers a world-class foodie experience: we handmade our pasta and mozzarella cheese daily and we spared no expense nor time in making sure that our food was Michelin Guide worthy. Unfortunately only a few customers could afford that kind of experience during the lowest point of the recession. Lesson learned: it's not just location, location, location -it's location, location, location, timing and controlling costs!

I recruited, mentored and manage a team of exceptionally bright, motivated, dedicated men and women whose abilities were only exceeded by their passion. We've helped over 16,000 individuals, businesses and community organizations to find solutions to their problems involving the federal government (and sometimes even problems that were completely out of our scope of expertise). My team enjoyed an excellent reputation for providing effective service to those whom we could help and compassion and empathy to those whom we could not.Worked with senior staff, subordinates and community leaders to plan and implement initiatives for developing and nurturing synergistic relationships with various community groups, business concerns, and other community stakeholders within the diverse State of New Jersey. Represented the office at hundreds of events, seminars, meetings and diplomatic functions. I also oversaw and coordinated federal grants for number of transportation and development projects.

Closter and Rockleigh are wealthy towns and very few of their residents cannot afford an attorney. I had more cases in half a day at Hackensack than I did here in a whole year. But I did have the distinction of being the first Asian-American Public Defender in this Court and one of only a handful of Asian-American PD's in the entire state.

Head legal officer for a perennial INC 500 company. The firm, through its many affiliates, manufactured, leased, and serviced Automated Teller Machines as well handling electronic fund transfer. Negotiated with clients, vendors and business partners from small mom-and-pop stores to large financial institutions. Represented firm at industry conventions as well as before government offices and elected officials.

Handled wide variety of cases from commercial to criminal defense for a small, politically active firm. Responsible for outreach to Asian-American community and for rainmaking in the same. Advised an international conglomerate on a $300 million contract with the state.

Assigned counsel at the busiest municipal court in Bergen County. I used to get yelled at all the time by the Judge for spending too much time on my clients' cases --an admonition which I wore as a badge of honor. As a result of my obsession with providing everyone the best representation that money couldn't buy, I was written up in the Bergen Record for a political freedom of speech case which I lost despite a tenacious defense. I was mentioned again in the Record when I won the appeal.

Started as an intern during law school. Fortunately, I had just learned from my mentor, Dr. Illuzzi, the fine art of being the perfect employee. The office soon hired me as a part-time assistant. Four months later, hired for full-time position. Started to assist with Asian-American outreach. Six month later, my salary was doubled and I became a major player in the NJ Asian-American community. Given project duties. Successfully advocated for 3.5 million dollar funding of a multi-use recreational trail in Monmouth County. Salary doubled again. Asked to assist with winding down of operations upon Senator's retirement.

I sat in small cubbyhole, chain-smoking, hacking out scripts for radio ads on an old typewriter for a small radio station on top of a desolate hill in Easton, Pa. I drove two hours each way from/to work and I barely made enough money to pay for gas and toll. But it was a lot of fun and I learned how an employee's actions and attitudes could impact the company. -and I also quit smoking.

I wrote brilliant, innovative, creative and memorable radio ads. I took enormous pride in writing and producing ads that had the "ring of truth" and made you laugh while it also featured the client's name, product/service line, special sales items, address and company phone number three times each --all in 60 seconds. I'm most proud of the fact that while I wrote and produced hundreds of ads, I never burned out and I never got into a rut.
