Collected observations for and supported activities of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey I and Sloan Extension for Galactic Understanding and Exploration (SEGUE). Provided primary support for the surveys via telescope operation, realtime QA, and scientific decision-making on the spot to maximize survey science returns.

Supported primary operations for the Astrophysical Research Consortium 3.5m telescope at Apache Point Obsevatory via telescope operation, wrote documentation for instruments and procedures (including website updates), and assisted remote observers with observation planning and execution to maximize the facility's science output.

Worked three consecutive summers at UC Boulder at the Center for Astrophysics and Space Astronomy (CASA) in the development, assembly and testing of the Near-Infrared Camera Fabry-Perot Spectrometer (NIC-FPS), a facility instrument for the ARC 3.5m telescope at Apache Point Observatory, New Mexico. I represented the user community, management, and staff of APO in the production of this instrument from conceptual design to commissioning, and help develop documentation and train new users after science operations began in 2004.

Led recitation sections for PHCC 110 (Descriptive Physics for non-majors) and had full responsibility for teaching AACC 101 (Astronomy Laboratory), including development of curriculum materials.

Assisted university faculty in investigating the "pinning" of magnetic field lines in superconducting materials at low temperature via scanning Hall probe microscopy. This work led to the publication of a novel method of simultaneous, linear x-y position sensing at high sensitivity.

Assisted staff scientists in conducting solar physics research including: • Reduction and preparation of time-series, full-disk imagery obtained at the South Pole in the austral summer of 1994-95 for helioseismology• Development of computational techniques that led to the emergence of "far side imagery" of photospheric magnetic structures• Characterization of the solar "quiet network" through full disk He I 10830Å images and magnetograms

Interned in the Digital Imaging Operation division, researching consumer digital cameras for a planned, Intel-branded camera that was eventually brought to market as the Intel Pocket PC Camera. Advised engineers on digital imaging techniques derived from my experience in the academic world using CCD and CMOS sensors for astronomy applications, reverse-engineered existing consumer cameras to understand their architecture, and developed tutorials for image manipulation with existing commercial software packages.
