In this role John dealt with clients within the United Kingdom, closing and calculating premiums, and preparing and rewriting marine cargo wordings. He also dealt with yacht insurance covers and premiums.

Johns duties were similar to those below with additional responsibility for:• Can Am (Canadian and American) binder covers.• 2IC whilst the Manager was absent.• Closing and calculation of premiums as well as preparing quotation slips for premiums.• Preparation of insurance certificates.• Corresponding with Canadian, American, Australian and Auckland based Reed Stenhouse offices on such matters as kiwifruit and petrochemical products.

Duties :• Preparation of marine cargo placing slips.• Preparation of wordings, which were subsequently presented to underwriters by brokers.• Handling of marine cargo enquiries.• Preparing premiums and insurance certificates.• Liaising with the clients and insurers.

In this role John gained experience in fire and general insurance and clerical duties.

John commenced his career in insurance in 1976 as the youngest Life Agent for T&G in New Zealand at that time. In the final two months of his tenure he attained the position of Top Producer for the Auckland region.
