John Barnett is 21 years old and was born and raised in the Bay Area of California. His passion for business comes from his father who started and still runs a landscaping company of over 25 years. John was passionate about baseball and played from age 4 to age 18 finishing off on his high school varsity team. Barnett then decided to hang up the cleats and take his first steps professionally by enrolling in the W.P Carey school of business at Arizona State. Due to Barnett’s grades, he was awarded the dean's scholarship which he currently still holds today. John decided to major in business entrepreneurship. He has aspirations to work at a venture capital fund or work along with start ups to help them grow their business.During the spring semester of his sophomore year at Arizona State Barnett was extended a bid from Alpha Kappa Psi which is the business fraternity at W.P Carey. Through his pledge process he was named fundraising chair and was able to raise $10,000 for AZAFAP which is a non profit that helps foster kids in Arizona. Due to this he was named pledge of the semester within his pledge class.Over the summer of 2023 Barnett took the role as interim general manager of his family company as his father was ill. He gained a great deal of experience doing this, even being able to land multiple 5 figure projects that he managed a crew to be able to finish. As of today John works part time as a server at Benihana in Chandler, AZ while being a full time student in his Junior year. Barnett is also currently focusing more on his marketing and sales skills and is looking to find an internship for the upcoming summer that correlates.
