Review, analyze, recommend, generate and implement new systems and procedures to ensure the organization exceeds the highest levels of industry standards and meets new and evolving regulations.  Oversee integration of comprehensive solutions to new regulatory requirements working in collaboration with the facility owner and Director of Facilities.  Advise and manage the survey processes for both CMS and Joint Commission survey cycles as well as post- survey Plan of Correction (POC) and Evidence of Standards Compliance (ESC).

Oversaw and directed all daily and long term goals of a fast-paced, high volume, 44 licensed bed skilled rehab unit within the dynamically shifting environment of a large scale continuing care retirement community. Responsible for hiring, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating team members. Successfully navigated multifaceted, interdependent departments within the independent living community and affiliates that were not under direct authority or control.  Achieved growth of previously flat occupancy by actively participating in admissions and marketing and giving team members the support to successfully reach new occupancy goals.  Developed new systems to maximize reimbursement incorporating multiple tracking tools built to identify areas of opportunity and action items to facilitate success. Expanded external community relationships through alignment of synergistic goals to meet the needs of affiliated and non-affiliated healthcare providers.  Strengthened internal community relationships bridging a cultural divide between skilled nursing and independent living through active participation and engagement within the community. Obtained two consecutive deficiency free annual DPH health inspection surveys utilizing a positive culture of dignity, respect and appreciation for the patients, family members and staff.  Maintained five-star CMS rating with a sustained focus on exceptional clinical care, customer satisfaction and DPH survey performance.  Rated “Top Performing” in US News and World Report’s “Best Nursing Homes 2017-2018” selected for performance in health inspection, staffing and medical care and quality measure ratings.

Oversaw all operations of a 135 licensed bed skilled nursing facility. Promoted a team atmosphere in a turn-around facility, resulting in a deficiency free survey in under seven months. Turned underperforming EBITDARM to positive EBITDARM variance.  Ensured highest levels of customer service revived and restructured a struggling manager on duty program through accountability and buy-in among staff. Increased customer satisfaction by proactively meeting unique patient and family needs.  Obtained a deficiency free annual DPH survey through alignment of goals amongst varied department head initiatives. Managed complex hospital and preferred provider network relationships collaboration with a wide range of personalities and expectations among hospitals, medical doctors and managed care.

Managed all center level operations at a 90 licensed bed skilled nursing facility. Mitigated a large, longstanding revenue gap and improved overall expense management.  Exceeded budgeted net operating income by decreasing expenses and introducing new processes to maximize occupancy. Increased average daily occupancy by 20 percent through strengthening referral outreach and streamlining admission process.  Coordinated $100,000 in capital funds to increase employee satisfaction, improve resident care, expand clinical capabilities and enhance the use and look of the center. Obtained a deficiency free annual DPH survey utilizing strategic collaboration between all disciplines. Succeeded in defeating a unionization effort working closely with CNAs to rectify unresolved needs and grievances from prior years.

Managed all aspects of business that generated $14 million in annual revenues. Managed risk assessment and mitigation, OSHA and district attorney investigation/complaint process, vendor contract negotiations, and emergency preparedness operations.  Increased revenue by $100,000 through renegotiating reimbursement from client account; captured savings of $180,000 annually through creating systems for monitoring pharmacy medications. Coordinated $420,000 in capital investments to the facility, minimizing disruption to residents (including resident rooms, nursing station, flooring and elevators) while achieving time and budget goals for projects. Engineered new approach to operations; overcame conflicts, unified team, and optimized service, with difference of $400,000 in net operating income as a result.
