John Beranek is a Writing Tutor at the College of Lake County where he works independently with students to aid them with various written and oral assignments. His professional career began alongside his academics when he was recommended to the Tutoring Center as a student at the college. After earning his associate’s degree as a member of the Honors Scholars program and Phi Theta Kappa, Beranek transferred to Lake Forest College to complete his bachelor’s degree, but not before being published three times in CLC’s literary magazine, Prairie Voices. At LFC, he worked alongside Dr. Reedy as a Fielding Fellow, aiding her in her research of disease representation within 17th century literature. He was also awarded the Tonar Prize, which granted him financial aid to study and travel to Edinburgh, Scotland for a semester. In 2023, Beranek graduated Magna Cum Laude from LFC with a BA in English and as a member of the National English Honors Society, Sigma Tau Delta. Beranek continues to hold true to his beliefs regarding the power of education, as he is currently in pursuit of his paralegal certification with the goal to combine his passion for creativity, writing, and research with the legal profession.
