General engineering background including time at Loughborough (then College of Advanced Technology, now University) studying electrical engineering, later Motor Industry car, then commercial. Initial business as Road Haulage Contractor, later starting Bignall Lubritec Ltd as a vehicle for centralised lubrication equipment. During the last 20 years creating the global brand of Masterlube now 98% export and the largest part of the group. Other strands include subcontract precision engineering and design and distribution of cubicle hardware under the CoBtec brand. Earlier business ventures have included property, amusements, engine management and green energy.Specialties: Taking product through from original opportunity through concept to prototype and on to part of the range within one or other of the brands
