Roles and Responsibilities• Proactively and reactively support global NAS and SAN infrastructure for NetApp, 3PAR, Promise and Symantec File Services including managing and evaluating performance and replacement of devices, applying and operating contracts and contract renewals, instigating support contracts and support processes for aged hardware• Develop business case and board proposal presentations for new equipment • Design and implement data migration processes to facilitate system upgrade and site moves• Go-to consultant technical architect on all Storage projects providing in-depth technical insight into capacity, technological solutions and risk analysisKey Achievements• Reducing infrastructure failures from 25% (over 18months) to 0% in just 2 months, I helped to improve company reputation and reduce customer attrition. This was achieved through utilising stack tracing tools and analysis programmes to identify faults in custom code written for Linux and Windows application servers. In doing so, I made changes to different areas of the system to fix the bugs• Applying Apache, Perl and SQLite, I developed an information portal which consolidated information to quickly identify potential areas of risk to the email service, and by making storage monitoring about proactive response rather than reactive crisis management I was able to reduce the overall customer impact, and free up engineer resource

I established the Service Platform Team with the support of my manager, having identified a gap in project delivery and stagnating progress between technical and project management disciplines. Roles and Responsibilities • Design and implement departmental structure and processes enabling collaborative working between project stakeholders• Mediate on issues involving multiple stakeholders in development, testing and infrastructure to deliver fast problem resolution around technical road-blocks to achieve agreed milestones• Build business case for new projects including consumption graphs to show trigger points of requirement, infrastructure design, asset acquisition, IT QA environments, financial modelling and growth profiling • Manage and develop a team of three senior technical engineers reviewing performance and approach to improve their performance in roleKey Achievements• A catalyst for project success on over 20 projects from single servers through to whole racks of equipment delivering on time and as planned by collaborating across disciplines internally and with third party vendors• Delivered new load balancing equipment (F5) into company overcoming obstacles from management requiring business case, financial modelling, R&D and board level buy-in. The successful implementation resulted in creating a company technology standard for load balancing which is still in place today

By bringing together relevant departments and acting as an intermediary as well as lead engineer I brought the project to go live, on time, ensuring customer expectations were met• Reduced the build time of a unit of capacity from five days to one day through intelligent automation scripts• Planned and implemented the installation of business critical memory upgrades within a 2-week window to over 10 global data centres, stabilising the infrastructure for the whole business• Built a custom Linux Kernel to support a new RAID Controller reducing the need to purchase new hardware by 50%
