Established and tasked JMC as a leading voice on the Holocaust in WWII Yugoslavia with focus on the Jasenovac death camp system that the Independent State of Croatia used to exterminate hundreds of thousands of Serbs, Jews and Roma (Gypsies). Led JMC in commemorating victims while giving modern-day significance to their sacrifice. In reversing the Communist-era Jasenovac coverup, we put fundamental human rights and a righting of historic wrongs ahead of political expediency. Had Jasenovac been as well known as Auschwitz, Serbs could never have been falsely demonized since the 1990s, and the necessary grappling with the very rational reasons for ethnic animosity would have led to a more peaceful and fair resolution of tensions.
