During this management role I formed and led two teams, one of Fasthosts’ three software development teams and the UI team.The software development team has six members covering the disciplines of software architecture, software development, QA and incident and problem management. This team manages its work using the scrum and kanban frameworks, working with me as team leader, scrum master and product owner, with the wider business as stakeholders. For operational support the ITIL framework is used in coordination with other departments in the business.The UI team has five members covering UX and UI design and build for our software system front ends and the Fasthosts website. We manage this team’s work using kanban, very closely coupled with all of the three software development teams as well as the marketing and product teams.My responsibilities in this role include:- Leading the teams through the lifecycle of projects and operational support work- High level planning to support program prioritisation and planning- Low level technical planning for project execution- Line management and development of team members- Acting as agile coach, scrum master and product owner in our agile processesAdditionally, I lead the Fasthosts’ PHP Guild, a group that crosses team boundaries and focuses on knowledge sharing and agreeing common practices around PHP software development.

This role was to create, lead and manage a new software development operational support team (Application Support Team). This was a very busy and challenging role, with this specialist third line support team being responsible for incident and problem management using ITIL for the software development department.

As the software development team grew I took on a dedicated senior software developer role in a highly skilled and experienced team. I was a central member of the team with ten years experience designing, developing and maintaining Fasthosts’ systems. I frequently led teams on large projects.During some of this time I was also responsible for the management of a small offshore team of developers that were used to maintain one of our legacy platforms.

During this exceptionally busy period for Fasthosts I led and managed the software development department as well as taking on a software development role. I worked closely with the managing director to develop new versions of all the company's products as we moved from our old CP3 system to our new CP4 system.
