About John Stevenson

I feel my best working with colleagues who want to solve problems and make improvements. With that cooperation and mindset, I can teach, coach, and mentor teams to achieve great manufacturing results. As a consultant, I teach and coach clients about each of the traditional elements of Total Productive Maintenance methodology (TPM): training and education, autonomous maintenance, planned maintenance, 5S, quality maintenance, focused improvement, early equipment management, and safety. Most of my clients are concentrated in the processing (packaging) and medical device industries.Previously, I practiced lean at an assembly plant in the medical equipment manufacturing industry. The hands-on practical application of 5S, flow, value, and waste reduction was a primary focus. Not only was it fun to practice lean, but it was particularly satisfying that the products were used in life-saving procedures. The most challenging and rewarding part of my career was shifting from manufacturing to transactional operations. Starting from nothing, I started a continuous improvement program leveraging lean principles and focusing on employee engagement. Little did I know that the results were critical to the bank during the great recession. While adapting to the new industry, I honed my presentation skills, training material development, and strategic thinking. My continuous improvement journey is rooted from my six sigma certification. As a young engineer, I was “volun-told” to be part of a pilot six sigma class at the paper mill. That intense experience launched my interest and passion for helping others make their jobs easier, more efficient, and satisfying.

Listed skills include Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, Process Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and 23 others.
