The Mobile Devices division concentrated on cell phone design and has always been a leading cell phone manufacturer.• 2004-2008 Mobile Devices Division: Team Leader for baseband electronics design on multiple phone projects directing teams of approximately fifteen engineers. We designed the application and baseband processor, memory, power management, audio, displays, cameras, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, etc. The phones consisted of fourth generation WiMax designs and Nextel iDEN phones such as the Nextel i870 and i876. We supported the Microsoft Smartphone and Linux operating systems. Our team supported architecture selection, circuit design including custom IC management, schematic entry, circuit simulation, board layout, certification, compliance testing, and factory ramp up.• 1999-2004 Personal Communication Sector: Senior engineer and team leader on advanced phone designs for AT&T Wireless, Cingular, and others. I personally handled the processor and memory design, and directed the overall baseband electronics design. Products developed include the first EDGE protocol phone for AT&T wireless (T725), the first Linux smart phone for the Singapore market (A760), and the first personal organizer phone (A009).• 1995-1998 Core Technologies and Systems Division: Senior electrical engineer on a team designing six new custom microprocessors for paging products. These processors consisted of a standard microprocessor core from the vendor’s library with custom peripherals supplied or specified by us. These IC’s were used in high volume pagers marketed worldwide.• 1992-1995 North America Paging Subscriber Division: Managed teams of embedded software engineers designing and writing code, and a separate team of support and test engineers. Responsibilities also included defining product roadmap with the sales and marketing teams to insure the products met the company’s goals and customer needs.• Senior Project Engineer (1984-1990): Designed the electronics for the laboratory instrument product line including low noise amplifiers, high sensitivity analog and digital signal processing circuits, high power micro stepping motor drivers, and PC based data acquisition systems. I introduced microprocessor controls to the laboratory instruments products, and staffed and managed a programming group to support them. • Manufacturing Engineer (1981-1984): I designed, built and programmed a computer controlled printed circuit board and wiring harness test system to improve productivity and maintain quality.
