John Busbee Creative Services 1979 - Present
2015 marked new territory, including the premiere of my first full-length stage play, "Bonds of War," which premiered Flag Day weekend as the first world premiere in the newly christened Norman Lear Theater in the Warren Cultural Center. Also, I am writing a book based on the six brothers from a family of ten, all of whom enlisted in the American Civil War, and all of whom perished because of there service. The Littleton Brothers story will become one of America's most captivating to be re-discovered in some time. New projects also include cultural strategy work for rejuvenating communities, ongoing magazine stories, media production work and cultural events production. In 2016, the second of what will be a BONDS play trilogy, "Bonds at Home," premiered for four performances at the Norman Lear Theater in Greenfield IA. Also in production this year is developing an exhibit on The Sidey Collection and its captivating imagery (think Norman Rockwell through photography); a one-man play based on the life of K.H. Sidey, third editor of the Adair County Free Press; and, an historical novel based on the Littleton Brothers legacy, set in the American Civil War; I also emceed the dedication of the Littleton Memorial in Louisa County IA, where Gov. Terry Branstad presided and Dr. Tom Morain provided the keynote address. 2017 will see the final installment of the BONDS trilogy of plays based in the WW II era, based on research from The Sidey Collection, a treasure trove of tens of thousands of negatives spanning eight decades, capturing a true Americana perspective - somewhat akin to Norman Rockwell in photographs. A one-man play will be completed, based on K.H. Sidey and available through Humanities Iowa, and the Sidey Collection Exhibit will begin touring the State of Iowa.
