I specialize in Petroleum Reservoir Engineering and Enhanced Oil Recovery, in being inventive, supportive, and consistently pro-active in all areas associated with hydrocarbon recovery. I enjoy turning R&D projects into practical applications by enabling field trials and then designing and implementing the full-field deployment of the new technology. My goal is to continually add value to producing properties, especially the 'mature' legacy properties, through optimization, pressure maintenance, water- and polymer flooding, SAGD, miscible displacement, mobility control, and several developing technologies. Another goal is to make these new technologies' development and operational costs competitive with current Exploration F&D, Oil Sands development, and deep tight shale oil & gas F&D costs. Having worked both as an Independent Consultant and in Staff Engineering positions, I understand the internal competition for funding between Reservoir Engineering ,Exploration and Operations. This experience has developed a passion in me for reducing the perceived cost and risk of EOR projects when compared to Exploration and Development drilling. I focus on mentorship, accurate needs assessment, intelligent solutions, and the identification and proving of exciting new technology opportunities.

  My background is in research and the practical application of mobility control, surfactant, and diluent technologies to the EOR repertoire, from the field pilot testing phase through to full field application. My goal is to improve the net-back cash flow, add NPV and Proven Reserves for mature properties; to provide early EOR options for new deep tight horizontal drilling and multi-stage fracture plays in the Deep Basin and Bakken; and to provide alternate sources of diluent for Oil Sands Bitumen (Dilbit) transport to ease pipeline bottlenecks and improve Canada's world market position. I have worked as an Independent Consultant and as a Staff Engineer to reduce the Innovation risk, provide education and mentor-ship, identify needs, provide solutions, and research new opportunities. Another goal is to promote synergy in design, construction, operation, monitoring and performance evaluation, and to promote a fully engaged Team atmosphere. Longer term, I want to help Canada be ready for our expanding role in world hydrocarbon supply.
