As the First Lieutenant, I was in charge of all deck operations on the ship (painting, line handling, small boats, search and rescue operations, underway replenishments, preventative maintenance, safety, training, and many other tasks). As an officer on the ship I qualified as the Officer of the Deck, and was trained as the Electronic Warfare Officer. I also volunteered to take care of the commands website but it has been changes since I left the ship.- Supervised 46 Sailors in the performance of seamanship functions and evolutions. Prepared work schedules, directed mooring, docking, anchoring, fueling, towing and transferring of personnel and cargo at sea. - Directed operations and maintenance of deck machinery, arranged for cargo handling, assigned boats and boat crews, maintained readiness of boats and survival equipment. Directed the preservation of weather decks, ships exterior, running gear, ground tackle and boatswain's stores.- Designed and maintained the ship's public website.

- Developed and managed a system to track all incoming freshmen's attendance at all training activities. - Designed and maintained the Intranet and Internet websites for all summer training. Led the merger of over 280 web servers into 1 to bring the U.S. Naval Academy web presence in alignment with Department of Defense policies.

As Regimental Midshipmen Information Systems Liaison Officer, was responsible for all computer issues for over 850 students. Designed and maintained the Regiment website and provided tech support.
