Responsibilities include all aspects of running the undergraduate labs, mentoring students, giving lab lectures when needed, sponsoring / assisting / giving guidance to senior projects and assisting with graduate and special projects. Assisting with the EECS (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) class labs are also part of my responsibilities here. Also work in conjunction with the Think[Box] facility (as the on-call Electrical Design Engineer) as well as other departments within the University to better support the students and faculty in their research efforts. Was involved in the analog portion of the design of a new Gamma Camera (using an array of photomultiplier tubes) to do medical imaging. Did predominately digital circuit design for the PLC 5-250 and PLC 6 automation controller platforms. Design work included a custom ASIC (codenamed "Aardvark") for the processors interrupt control hardware. Also received US patent # 5,245,331 for a system that insures data communication without undetected data collisions.

Was involved in the original system design and development of a Automated Meter Reading system for the remote reading of gas meter usage (from a module that was installed on the gas meter inside the house) by using a magnetically coupled "wand" to read the meter from outside the house. Was responsible for the analog and digital circuit design as well as writing all of the assembly language firmware for the Portable Usage Recorder (PUR) and the Portable Programmer Recorder (PPR) units. Also redesigned and improved a power management system that controls load shedding to maintain a setpoint peak on residential power usage.
