Following the purchase of MediCall, I became a VP and Head of their Healthcare BPO practice. In this capacity, I led MediCall’s integration within the Cognizant Business Process Solutions Group as part of the acquisition agreement (involving 2,500+ CTSH Philippine employees and 14 direct reports). Additionally, I directed the U.S. and Philippine senior management team in services for Healthcare, Insurance, Pharma, and Life Sciences product lines, holding full P&L accountability. -

The company served as a turnkey provider of solutions to enable the immediate, secure delivery of remote clinical resources from the Philippines. Subsequently, I grew the company to more than 1,200 employees at the time of the CTSH acquisition. Building and leading the U.S.-based Healthcare Sales and Marketing team, we drove all business development efforts; additionally, I created a middle-management Clinician team to oversee clinical services delivery. To facilitate successful results, I developed key relationships with legal, financial, and government entities in the Philippines. Along with this, a key challenge I faced was to reverse the negative U.S. view of the outsourcing and offshoring model, as well as meeting regulatory compliance requirements.In 2012, I oversaw our merger with CTSH, including all transactional and integration activities. -

As part of business development efforts, I initiated, negotiated, and managed contracts with the 2 leading notebook manufacturers at the time.HIGHLIGHTS:★ Grew the company from zero to $23M annual revenue total (prior to its merger with Smart Modular Technologies in 1995).★ Served as the Chief Architect for the merger and a key participant in the subsequent IPO, managing the Communications division for 2 years post-merger.★ Secured rebranded OEM relationships for Apex’ modem products with Toshiba and IBM. Convinced potential suppliers of viability of using their communications chipset within a new marketplace for mobile devices, including development of new chipsets for mobile computing.
