In 2024 I will be celebrating my 33rd year at Microsoft. In an era where we like to brand workforce trends and we celebrate change, I realize that being at one company for 33 years make me a bit of a unicorn. When I started here at the company in 1991, it was before the internet, online shopping and ubiquitous cell phones were even a thing. I was fresh out of hotel school at Cornell University – so a career in technology and the workforce dynamics we see today are something I could not have imagined.Today in my role as Senior Director of Global Employee and Executive Communications at Microsoft, I lead a team and a community that helps create communications and experiences for Microsoft's 220k employees, managers, and senior leaders.In my three decades at Microsoft, I’ve been fortunate enough to work on a huge array of projects ranging from building the company’s university recruiting program, to managing employee events, to helping to build a robust and impactful global community of executive and employee communications leaders.I'm originally from Williamstown, Massachusetts, and after a brief stint in Hawaii, have called the Pacific Northwest my home for the last 30+ years.

  In my role as Senior Director of Global Employee and Executive Communications at Microsoft, I lead a team and a community that helps create communications and experiences to nurture brand love, accelerate culture change, protect Microsoft's reputation, and build trust with employees and external audiences.Key areas of responsibility include:* Leading Microsoft's approach to creating, supporting and fostering the Global Employee, Executive and Employer Communications community.* Leading Global HR Communications including: Total Rewards, Talent, Learning and Insights, Diversity and Inclusion, Global Talent and more.* Leading our approach to creating a center of excellence for Executive Communications.* Partnering with the CEOs office on CEO Employee Communications.In my three decades at Microsoft, I’ve been fortunate enough to work on communications under three CEOs - Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer and Satya Nadella. I've seen the employee comms discipline grow from an underappreciated and under resourced function to now being a strategic part of almost any organizations approach to corporate communications.
