In this role, I have conducted community workshops, validation meetings, Disaster Risk Reduction trainings, and gender- and food security-focused interviews. I am responsible for supporting local counterparts in UN-Habitat to drive progress and build their capacity on the Adaptation Fund-supported project.

This role involved:- Providing advice to the wider EPA across a range of different legislative regimes, including the Resource Management Act, EEZ Act and Regulations, Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act and Regulations and Climate Change Response Act;- Preparing litigation documents for High Court judicial review and District Court cases; - Reviewing a range of contracts for personnel and services and advising on procurement in line with Central Government guidelines; and- Providing legal and policy input into RMA and HSNO reforms.

This role involved:- Reviewing applications for nationally significant proposals;- Liaison with stakeholders, including councils, applicants and central government;- Managing a project to improve efficiency and robustness in processing applications; and - Drafting EPA Board papers and Ministerial briefing notes.

This role included:- Drafting litigation documents for large scale infrastructure and development projects;- Performing environmental due diligence in relation to major property acquisitions;- Undertaking Overseas Investment Office sensitive land checks; - Providing advice on a variety of planning issues, including coastal planning, water allocation, the Crown Minerals Act and state highway development; and- During a secondment in the finance team, drafting shareholders' and director's agreements, liaising with clients about corporate financing and restructuring, and being involved in a major insolvency process.

During my summer clerkship, I spent a rotation in the Tax team then another in the Resource Management team.I was involved in a number of projects including assessing the tax implications of a large infrastructure purchase, drafting advice to clients on a range of tax and resource management issues, and attending client meetings.

Dunedin

I worked as a research assistant to Dr Mike Hilton as part of his ongoing research on the restoration of a dune system at Doughboy Bay, Stewart Island.This involved using GPS techniques to track changes in vegetation and dune heights, including the effects of the restoration on a number of endangered flora and fauna species.Following the fieldwork, I was involved in the data analysis process, particularly in comparing the data with those from previous years.
