Product Analytics for Meta's Messenger texting quality.Lead Data Scientist of Meta's Messenger App in charge of texting quality. Focus on messaging reliability and latency across the family of apps (Messenger, Facebook, Instagram, and Facebook Lite) and across all surfaces (iOS, Android, Web).Responsible for maintaining high quality user experience as users are transitioned from open to encrypted texting. DS Technical Lead of a major experiment with ten core members consisting of software engineers, technical project manager, data engineers, and data scientists. As the lead, I managed all DS facing functions, including prioritization of DS tasks, constructing the measurement plan, resolving DS execution questions, reporting of metrics to Engineering leadership, and socializing the findings to the larger Messenger organization. As a result of my leadership, the project was able to stay on path despite facing multiple implementation and experimental rollout headwinds.One of the analytical challenges was that the experiment was not able to randomly sample the user base due to privacy constraints. As a result, the findings from the experiment did not easily translate to the broader organic user base. I identified and articulated this difference and proposed a stratified sampling approach to put the data from the experiment on similar footing as the organic users of the service.

Product Analytics and Algorithms for Location Intelligence Data Products.Played a key role in helping the company grow from startup mode (UberMedia) to acquisition by Near. Over half a decade, consistently identified, prioritized, and solved core data science challenges.Main role is driving the development of location intelligence products to help businesses with physical store fronts make data driven decisions. Provide insights to foot-traffic, customer segmentation, trade area (where customers are coming from), and how they stack up against their competitors.Work includes identifying fraudulent data, removing biases and normalizing third party data for use in building data products. Hidden in these deceptive simple descriptions are challenging data science problems.Create metrics from large data sets through API calls to measure the health of the inbound and outbound data. Push the metrics to dashboards that enable stakeholders to self-serve and quickly access the information.

Product Analytics for Meditation App.The first data scientist hire. Provided statistical and analytical thought leadership to Product, Marketing, and Finance functions. Projects included identifying relevant statistical tests and evaluating experiments to optimize advertising spent on podcasts.Identified causes of churn by building a logistic regression model using length of membership, app usage, and demographic features. Communicate with non-technical audiences to explain how the model can improve decision making and thoughtfully increase profit.
