The earliest of these was founded 20th December 1646 and known as Poor’s Ground. Its object was to pay the whole yearly income to the churchwardens for the relief of the poor inhabitants of Prestbury. There was an almshouse in Prestbury consisting of six rooms and a small garden where eleven people lived. In the centre of the house was the inscription ‘The gift of Ann Goodrich for the religious poor of 1720’. The almshouse had no funds for its maintenance and so was generally maintained by the Poor’s Ground charity. During the 19th century several people left money to be invested and the interest was to be used to help the poor of their parish. CSS was a UK subsidiary of CSI (Currency Systems International) the manufacturer of high-speed banknote sorters with its HQ in Dallas. Managed CSS from its inception in 1998 until December 1999. Responsible for developing software for the cash industry and interfacing to CSI's banknote sorters. Responsible for marketing the Maestro Vault Management System outside continental Europe. From January 2000 became responsible for international sales and project management of Maestro installations. CSI was acquired by De La Rue in July 2001.

Formed the company as successor to the software business of Thomas Findlay as a specialist software developer for the cash industry. Became a cash solution provider to M&S. Developed the first operationally successful system for processing mixed commercial deposits using CSI's banknote sorters using header & trailer cards, leading to the acquisition of the business by CSI.

Responsible for sales of Cashmaster currency scales and application software to retailers and banks in the UK.

Responsible for marketing and sales of NORD's software products for schools and FE colleges including SCRIPT and FECAS - systems for administration and financial management. Launched AWOL - a computer system for attendance recording in schools.

NORD was a distributor of ICL computer systems and a developer of application software based in Leeds. Lead salesman and sales team manager promoting system sales to commercial companies and local government departments. Opened and managed the regional office in South Shields.

Responsible for sales of application software to local government authorities throughout the North of England and Scotland. LG rapidly became the largest independent software supplier to the sector and enjoyed dramatic growth but crashed in 1987 because of a failed project.
