By focusing on individual student needs I was able to maintain historic class averages in some courses and increase the class average in others. Throughout multiple semesters I was also the department's Python tutor and helped undergraduates unfamiliar with Python or coding in general gain the skills needed to complete homework assignments dealing with real-world examples of astronomical data.Pre-COVID, I was working with Dr. Bill Janesh on developing an asynchronous course titled "Introduction to Stars, Galaxies and the Universe" that was scheduled to take place during the Summer 2020 semester. The course featured videos, homework assignments/labs, and class-wide discussions to completed on students' own schedules. Due to its online nature, it was able to still be listed for the Summer 2020 semester and became a template for introductory astronomy courses moving forward during the COVID era of online classes.
