I'm a Product Manager with 10+ years of experience working on hyperscale cloud infrastructure and enterprise workloads. I worked at Google most recently, where I focused on making Google Compute Engine the best platform for Windows Server and SQL Server. Prior to Google, I worked at Microsoft on the core virtualization team (Hyper-V), where I focused on core Azure computing infrastructure, and the PowerShell team, where I was the initial PM on the PowerShell Gallery.I'm at my best when I partner closely with engineering teams to drive core product improvements. I'm not afraid of complex technical stacks or unexpected customer use-cases; I provide value to teams by bringing clarity and direction to tough must-solve problems. For example, in my prior role, I became a domain expert on Microsoft licensing and cloud infrastructure internals, which has allowed me to launch multiple features that reduce licensing costs by 50+%.

Product ManagerGoogle Apr 2020 - Jul 2024Mountain View, Ca, UsSummary: I made Google Compute Engine the best platform for Windows Server and SQL Server workloads.I established long-term vision for Microsoft license cost optimization and efficiency improvements on Google Compute Engine, landing multiple features that enabled customers to save >50% of Microsoft licenses (e.g. threads per core, custom visible cores, shared sole tenancy). I led investments in core product experiences and platform foundations for Microsoft workloads, ranging from building out quantitative feedback channels specific to Microsoft workloads, to driving support to the latest versions of Microsoft software, to managing deprecation of out-of-support software. When possible, I shared learning across teams and organizations (e.g. by coordinating product roadmaps with partner teams or kick-starting an cohesive org-wide strategy for OS support across both Windows and Linux). I was responsible for a large amount of keep-the-lights-on work for the $XXXM Microsoft licensing business, ranging from renewing support contracts, to sending contractually required reports, to managing ongoing invoicing. -

Program Manager 2, Hyper-V TeamMicrosoft Sep 2016 - Feb 2020Redmond, Washington, UsSummary: I reduced customer impact due to compute host servicing in Azure, coordinated Hyper-V's response to major security incidents, and worked on core cloud infrastructure projects. I owned strategy for the suite of tools used to service, update, and upgrade Azure’s compute host OS with minimal customer impact (e.g. live migration, VM Preserving Host Update). I partnered across organizational boundaries to establish technical requirements and customer-focused KPIs for these tools, and work closely with development, test, and data analytics teams to make accountable progress towards those goals. I acted as primary liaison between the Hyper-V engineering team and Intel/AMD. In this role, I added value by prioritizing and coordinating hypervisor investment into new technologies from CPU vendors.I drafted a whitepaper outlining opportunities for the Azure compute host to improve cloud margins, and put together a cross-organizational team to coordinate investment and set a long-term vision.I managed Hyper-V’s mitigations to major speculative-execution-related security incidents. I coordinated across 7+ teams within Azure and Windows to deliver a secure and performant host operating system under urgent deadlines. Throughout the process, I represented Hyper-V engineering progress to leadership, identified risks to the project, and clearly communicated daily status.I also mentored interns and new hires, and acted as feature PM for various smaller efforts. -
Program Manager, Hyper-V TeamMicrosoft Nov 2015 - Sep 2016Redmond, Washington, UsSummary: I was program manager for new Hyper-V API surfaces (i.e. Host Compute Service, Windows Hypervisor Platform).I resolved developer and enterprise pain by creating a new Hyper-V API called the Windows Hypervisor Platform. This API allows other virtualization stacks (e.g. QEMU) to run alongside Hyper-V. This allows Windows developers to use both Docker (which uses Hyper-V) and the Google Android Emulator (which forked QEMU) simultaneously. I worked with partners in Visual Studio and Xamarin to define the requirements for the initial version of this API, before handing it off to another PM. -
Program Manager, Powershell TeamMicrosoft Aug 2013 - Nov 2015Redmond, Washington, UsSummary: I was program manager for the initial releases of the PowerShell Gallery and Just Enough Administration (JEA) projects. I owned the PowerShell Gallery project from inception to initial release. The gallery allows IT Professionals and developers to discover, download, and install PowerShell modules from a trustworthy source. It has been a success and now successfully averages 20+ million module downloads every month. To support the project, I: - Did market research into various package management systems - Identified key ways the PowerShell ecosystem differed from existing solutions - Worked with the development team to prototype a PowerShell-specific approach - Presented and got early feedback from external customers - Partnered with internal teams experienced in the problem space (NuGet, Visual Studio Online) - Wrote detailed technical specifications for the PowerShell Gallery and PowerShellGet (CLI client) - Worked with the development team to prioritize features/bugs - Wrote initial external documentation. I owned the Just Enough Administration (JEA) project from prototype to initial release. JEA brings sudo-like functionality to remote PowerShell management, and allows organizations to limit proliferation and usage of administrator credentials. I conducted on-site visits with 7 customers (5 international) and was a highly rated presenter at the Ignite conference. -
