Col. John Cully was commissioned in 1970 through the ROTC program at Central Michigan University and entered active duty. After completion of the Armor Officer Basic Course and flight school, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, Republic of Vietnam. There he flew attack helicopters for the 2/17 Air Cavalry. In 1975 then Cpt. Cully was transferred to Military Intelligence where he was assigned to various Special Forces and special operational units. In 1988 he was selected to command the Special Intelligence Squadron. There he planned, led and executed numerous sensitive intelligence operations that were approved at the highest levels of US Government. The results of these missions were briefed to Congress and the President. In 1997, Col. Cully retired from active duty and entered civilian life in the travel industry. He is currently Vice President for Government and Military Sales with International Cruise and Excursions-the largest privately held travel wholesaler in the US with sales in excess of $500,000,000 in 2011.
