Black Rock Mining is an Australian graphite developer. With Resreves of 70mt @ 8.5% TGC, Black Rock Mining’s Mahenge Project in Tanzania, is ranked second globally. The Mahenge development model is reflective of the new Tanzanian legislative environment and is a high grade concentrate only business model, developed over three stages as a self-funding boot strap model. Organisational design is a Tanzanian centric operating model, with an offshore governance centre. Role scope:• Build and lead an organisation capable of developing the Mahenge asset • Develop the mine and business in a sustainable manner consistent with the Equator principals• Engage with government and agencies to secure operating licences and permits• Identify and secure funding• Engage with capital and equity markets to ensure project value is maximised Major Achievements:• Deliver Pre-Feasibility Study increasing NPV from $170m USD to $905m USD after tax, inclusive of free carried interest• Commence Definitive Feasibility Study with leading industry engineering house• Develop operating model consistent with revised Tanzanian legislation• Restructured organisation to align with development model

After nearly four years with St Barbara and over 30 years in the Resources Industry, I’m taking a well-earned break. We all talk about work and life balances, “do I work to live or do I live to work”? There are lots of other ways of putting the same question, but they all end up in the same spot, “when is the right time to move on”. For me the time was now. So, I am doing what all of us have always wanted to do, take time off to spend time with my wife, travel a bit and rebuild after what has been a tumultuous couple of years of boom, bust and renewal. After 18 months of sabbatical, I'm ready to do it all again.
