I worked as an HR Executive in the financial services industry for over twenty years before taking a mid-career break to focus on me and my family. I used the last few years to travel, be a stay-at-home dad, care for my parents, and work on personal growth.

JPMorgan Chase is a Global Fortune 20 company that is a leader in investment banking, financial services for consumers and small business, commercial banking, financial transaction processing, and asset management with assets of $2.5 trillion and operations worldwide.I transferred into the Human Resources Director role reporting to the Commercial Banking (CB) CHRO per their request, covering Commercial Real Estate Banking (CRE). As the head of HR for this business, I partnered with the CRE President and Senior Management to drive business results and people priorities forward across the 700 employee base national footprint.Coached the CRE President on integrating three separate business units under a single leader, optimizing the organizational structure from both a management and efficiency perspective. Managed the performance assessment, employee selection, compensation planning, and employee relations needs.Significant transformations included: creating and building out a digital banking business; designing a rotational analyst development program to address an identified gap in the talent pipeline; and implementing structural changes, job redesigns, and headcount planning initiatives based on technology and process enhancements.

Returned to a Human Resources Director role reporting to the CB CHRO. Drove the people priorities forward for 3000+ employees in Business Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing/Communications, and Risk. I partnered with the functional C-suite (CAO, CFO, CHRO, & CRO) to customize and deliver the HR programs to their respective departments. Managed a team of five HR business partners.Analyzed data from employee opinion survey results to target leadership development training needs in Business Operations and Finance. Improved manager effectiveness, employee engagement and retention by partnering with the training COE to deliver programs. Evidence from a pulse survey showed improvement twelve months later in all areas.

Selected and promoted by the CB CHRO to lead the compensation function, broadening and deepening my skillset. Managed a team of five, and salary and incentive programs totaling $1B+.As the Head of Compensation, I strategized with the CB CEO, CFO and CHRO to establish each year’s compensation budget and annual incentive planning process. I partnered with external consultants and corporate compensation to incorporate market insights and intelligence with the firm’s overarching compensation philosophy and align them with business priorities. During the financial crisis I worked with senior management and bank regulators to define, create, and implement risk and controls and provide safety and soundness with new incentive approaches for “material risk takers”.
